Day 2 of Strategic Planning.
On the second day of strategic planning, I am reflecting over last years goals and recording all of the goals that I accomplished. It is important to recognize the positive aspects of your career that you have worked hard to achieve.
Some of the goals that I achieved this year which I am proud of include: Making new business cards, being a Featured Artist at Altered Esthetics, submitting a grant (I actually submitted 5), being member of NEMAA, setting a goal of one painting a day at my residency, and creating an installation. While there have definitely been some definite ups and downs throughout the entire year, I am proud of what I have accomplished. And all the difficult periods and experiences have taught me some new skills in running my own arts business.
The most important aspect of this reflection is not focusing on all of the goals that didn’t get accomplished. List your accomplishments and stick them in an area that is visible to remind yourself of all your successes. When you begin to plan for the upcoming year, just push the goals that didn’t get accomplished on to this years agenda. Make sure that it is something you still wish to focus on during the year. Is the time, effort and dedication still conducive to your arts career plan? Maybe you just need to refocus or begin to achieve it by finding it a new approach. If you no longer wish to focus on a certain goal, feel free to get rid of it!
